Check often for answers to your questions. Let us know how we can make this page better for you.

Freshman Orientation

Freshmen Orientation/Welcome will be Wednesday, August 19. The event will be 7:45 am to noon.
This orientation is for all incoming freshmen. Come pick up your schedule, find your classes, meet your teachers, learn more about Kennedy, and meet other students. We highly encourage freshmen to attend. This is for students only.
We will be taking school pictures at Freshman Orientation. This is for the yearbook and their school ID (needed for the dance, for job applications, and to ride the city bus for free).

Parking

Parking space at Kennedy High School is very limited.
School parking permits applications are only available for juniors and seniors with a valid driver’s license and no outstanding school issued parking tickets.
See the Parking Registration page for more information and forms to apply.

Bus Transportation

By Iowa law, the District is obligated to transport students who wish to ride and are eligible. For most high school students, this means living 3 or more miles from the high school in your residence area.

For more information, visit the transportation page.

Google Form to sign up for Transportation

School Photos

School pictures will be taken August 18 and 19, 2027.  Students can stop by anytime from 8am to 3:30pm.  School pictures are used for the yearbook and student ID. It is important for students to have their picture taken as IDs are required for entrance to many school activities including dances.
If the student loses his/her ID, the IMC can make a replacement. There may be a nominal charge.

School Driving Permit

Kennedy does not offer a Driver's Education course.  Students have many options.  Check out our Driver's Education page for information.

Students who have completed Driver’s Education but do not yet have their Driver’s License, may apply for a School Driving Permit. This permit only allows the student to drive between home and school. There is a form that needs to be completed by the parent and signed by a school administrator. For more information and the form needed, check out the page on our website.

Annual Verification

Verification of student information, consent forms, and release agreements need to be updated each year. This is done on the parent portal of Infinite Campus.
If you need assistance with your Infinite Campus account, please contact the Main Office at 319-558-2251.

Lockers

Lockers are available to all students.
It is the responsibility of students to sign up each year if they would like a school locker. Locker assignments are good for one school year. At the end of the year, it is the responsibility of the student to clean out their locker or they will be fined $15.
If you would like a gym locker, please contact your PE teacher.
Please use the button below to access the Google Form.  You must use your school account to access the form.

School Fees

Students are annually assessed a “book fee” to cover the cost of services, supplies, materials and other special programs outlined by the School Board. A fee waiver can be obtained for families that qualify for the District’s Free and Reduced Meal Program AND who complete the waiver portion of the Annual Verification in Infinite Campus. This must be filled out yearly.
A link to the Free/Reduced application can be found in our Quicklinks.

Full Rate – $100.00
Qualifying Reduced Rate – $60.00
To qualify for Reduced or Free Rate, parents must check ‘yes’ in the Educational Benefits portion on the ‘Free/Reduced Lunch Eligibility’ screen when doing Online Verification in Infinite Campus. If ‘yes’ is not checked, you will be responsible for the full amount.
