Parking space at Kennedy High School is very limited. Students are encouraged to carpool, take the bus, or find alternative forms of transportation.

Students may use onsite parking or parking at one of the nearby church lots listed but must complete registration for any and all vehicles. Students will be held accountable to know the requirements and regulations outlined below. Registration is done online-the Google form can ONLY be accessed through the student's school Google account. By applying for a parking permit, the parent and student are agreeing to the information presented below. Parking tickets will NOT be waived.

Students MAY NOT apply for a parking permit until they have a license or school permit and all parking tickets are paid for. We cannot save/reserve spots.

Parking Information

Safety is a priority at Kennedy. This is why we require registration of all student vehicles on our campus. Please read this document in its entirety, as there are some updates with fees and policies. We will be holding students accountable if parking expectations are not followed, as the rules are clearly outlined in this document.

Requirements & Regulations

The student must have all previous parking violations paid before a parking tag will be issued.
A completed online Kennedy Parking Registration form is required for every vehicle parked on campus or in one of the church lots.
Parking permit stickers/tags must be placed on the outside of the vehicle in the upper right corner of the back window (upper passenger side).
Students can only park in the lot designated by the permit sticker/tag on their car.
Students must park only in designated student areas in their assigned lot:
- Kennedy Campus: spaces marked with yellow lines
- Church Lots: spaces specified in the church parking contract
Students are allowed only 1 car in a lot at a time. If a student drives more than 1 vehicle, an additional sticker will need to be purchased, and all vehicles must be registered with the school.
If a new sticker is needed during the year, the old sticker MUST be turned in before a new one is issued.
- There is a $15 fee for additional and/or replacement stickers.
Parking permits are not transferable to other students or other vehicles. Students are liable for the parking tag/number that they are assigned.
Students that need to drive a different vehicle due to a temporary situation need to stop by the Bookkeeper's Office before the student starts driving the temporary vehicle to arrange for a temporary parking tag. Temporary tags will be issued for a maximum of 2 weeks. Anything longer will require approval by an administrator and/or the purchase of a new sticker. Students will be responsible for any tickets that are issued on a vehicle without a temporary parking tag.

Consequences for Parking Violations

School personnel have the right to issue consequences to vehicle owners who are not following expectations while parked in school lots and designated church spaces. In addition, the churches have the right to be more stringent with their rules and/or enforcement since the church lots are private property, not school grounds.

Parking tickets are $20.00 per violation.
Immediate revocation of the parking sticker and/or permanent loss of parking privileges.
Vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense.
Tire boot placed on the vehicle until the owner has paid all tickets and/or rectified the issued consequence.

Examples of Parking Violations

Vehicle does not have a valid permit for that specific lot where the vehicle is parked
Vehicle is parked anywhere other than a designated student space (e.g. fire lane, loading area, designated staff area, disabled/handicap space, Horseshoe)
Multiple unpaid parking violations
Unregistered vehicle
A parking sticker that is missing, not displayed correctly, or not clearly visible

Church Lots (Seniors/Juniors/Sophomores/Freshmen)

South Lot (Seniors/Juniors Only)

There is a $25 sticker fee for South Lot parking. This can now be paid online OR in person by Cash/Check made out to Kennedy (see assigned pick up days).
A Kennedy South Lot Parking Sticker does not guarantee a parking space because more permits are issued than there are spaces available. However, because many students are granted release time, there are usually available spots.
In the event that there are no spots available in the South Lot, students should be prepared to use street parking. Be aware that many of the closest streets have 2-hour parking only or no parking restrictions. Streets in the area that have at least one side of the street with no parking restrictions include the following: Falbrook Dr, Glen Elm Dr, Towne House Dr and Westchester Dr.

North Lot (Seniors/Juniors)

There is a $100 fee to park in the North Lot. This covers the sticker fee and guarantees a general spot in the student section of the lot.
This can now be paid online OR in person by Cash/Check made out to Kennedy (see assigned pick up days).
The North Parking Lot is available first for Seniors based on the order of online registration AND pick up/payment at the assigned time slot.
Seniors will be notified through school email by Tuesday, August 11 if they are assigned to the North Lot.
Any Junior that qualifies for a North Lot sticker will be notified by email on Thursday, August 20.

Online Registration Information

Students can only use their school account/Gmail address to register. Registration will not work with a personal email address.

Seniors: Tuesday, August 4, online registration opens at 1:00 pm
Juniors: Wednesday, August 5, online registration opens at 1:00 pm
Sophomores: Thursday, August 6, online registration opens at 1:00 pm
Freshmen: Thursday, August 6, online registration opens at 1:00 pm

Troubleshooting for Online Registration:

Ensure students are using their school account/Gmail address to register. No personal accounts.
Sometimes it might take several tries to open the registration link because of the number of people trying to access it. Refresh and try again. You may have to do this several times.
If you still can’t resolve the issue, email kennparking@crschools.us.

Sticker Pick Up and Payment

After completing the online registration process, students must pay for and pick up their parking sticker during their assigned date/time. If you show up during another group's assigned time, we will not issue your sticker; no exceptions.

Parking Lot Stickers for the North Lot, Lovely Lane and Good Shepherd will be issued based on the order (date/time) of online registration. This means your first choice may not be available at the time of pick up. If you can’t make the time assigned below, you will need to pick up your sticker at another time during Kennedy Office Hours.

New Payment Option: Students who register for the North and South lots will be able to prepay their parking fee in Infinite Campus. This has been done in order to expedite wait times when picking up your sticker. Please utilize this option if possible.

Expectations for Sticker Pick Up

If you can’t make the time assigned below, you will need to wait until after these dates to pick up your sticker. If you show up before then, we will not issue your sticker; no exceptions.
There may be long lines. Please be prepared to wait.
Students who are misbehaving or being disrespectful to staff while in line will be asked to leave and run the risk of losing their parking sticker.
We will also be taking school pictures for IDs and the Yearbook. Please take care of this while you are here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to get a parking permit?

*A completed vehicle registration form is required for every vehicle parked on campus or in one of the church lots.
*Students must use their school Google account to sign up online for a parking permit.
*Students must have a valid driver’s license or school driving permit. This must be presented when you pick up your parking pass.
*Student must NOT have any unpaid parking tickets.

Does a parking permit guarantee me a parking spot?

Any Junior or Senior student who applies for a South Lot permit will be granted one but this does not guarantee you a parking space as more permits may be issued than there are spaces available.
If you purchase a parking permit from a church or the North Lot you will be guaranteed a parking spot.
Note: If the church lot has an event, students in those lots will receive email notification and must find alternative street parking during that event. They may not park in the school lot.

I have a parking pass but my lot is full. Can I park in any open spot?

Your parking pass is only good for the lot indicated on the pass. You may NOT park in other areas or restricted areas or you may be ticketed.
If your designated lot is full, you must park on a side street around Kennedy. Be aware that many of the closest streets may have a 2-hour parking limit, while some streets may have different rules depending which side you park on. Do no block driveways and be courteous to our neighbors.

How do I sign up for a parking permit?

Kennedy uses an online Parking Application Google Form for students to enter their intent to reserve a parking permit. The form will be turned on at the designated time listed on the chart above. Students should then come in on the scheduled time to pick up their permit. The form can only be accessed through the student’s school account.
Make sure to read and become familiar with the parking regulations found in the Parking Information.
Students are not guaranteed a permit until it is paid for.
Once school begins, students can access the form anytime. You will receive an email when your parking sticker is ready to be picked up.

What if I need to drive a different car to school? Can I use my parking permit for another car?

I’m a senior. Am I guaranteed a North Lot parking permit?

I do not have my driver’s permit yet (but soon), can I apply now to insure I get a parking spot?

I have a parking sticker but I got a ticket. What happened?

*Make sure your parking sticker is placed in the required place and is visible.
*Make sure you are parked in the parking lot that matches your parking sticker.
*Make sure you are parked in the correct areas-some churches have designated spots for student parking so that it does not interfere with parking for their congregation. There are areas in the North Lot that are designated for staff only. Do NOT park in these spots.
*Do NOT park in non-parking zones such as handicap or fire lanes. Iowa Parking laws still apply.

Do I have to pay the $25 sticker fee each time I get a parking sticker?

Troubleshooting

*I will be out of town during my pick up days—– If you have registered for a South Lot pass, you can pick it up at any time after the initial pick up dates. If you want to register for a church lot or the North Lot, we cannot hold spaces for you. Note-Lovely Lane will always sell out first due to limited spaces. If you will not be here on pick up dates, please choose Oakland Road or Good Shepherd.

*The form is not giving me access—– You MUST use your student school Google Account to access the form. Check to make sure you are using the correct email.

*I’m a new student and I do not have an account yet. How do I apply for a parking permit? —— If you have not yet been set up for an account, please stop by the Main Office and we will help you fill out the form.

*My student did not receive the email with the information—— First, have your student check all email folders, including spam. If you still cannot find the form, please let us know-they might not have been set up to receive school communications in Infinite Campus.

*How can I get the affidavit signed so my student can get their Student Driving Permit? ——Students may come to the Main Office and we will assist you in getting the forms signed. Forms must be signed by a school administrator. Please allow 24 hours for a signature.

*What if spaces run out? ——– While we cannot promise you will get your first choice, we have yet to run out of parking passes.

*Do I still have to pay full price if my student purchases a church lot pass mid year? —— The churches are the ones who receive the money for parking passes, not Kennedy, and they determine the fee structure for the passes. Past practices have been for the churches to reduce the rate in half at the second semester. As long as students show respect for their parking areas, we assume this arrangement will continue.

I have a church lot permit but I am in sports and will get back late.

For the student’s safety, we suggest that they move their car to the South Lot before they leave for their competition/game.
Students need to:
*Let the coach know IN ADVANCE, that they will need to park in the South Lot.
*The coach will need to approve the request and turn those names in to the Bookkeeper.
Students can move their car in to the South Lot beginning at 2pm or slightly before if they are leaving at 2.
