Senior Checklist

Order Cap and Gown

Order before December. There is a late fee for orders after January. They will be delivered to the school in April. Pick up will be during all lunch shifts.

Final Transcripts

All seniors that are enrolling in a college/University/trade program or military should request their final transcript to sent using the form linked. The link will be updated.

Final transcripts will be sent by mid June.

Senior Recognition Ceremony

Save the date, Sunday, April 25, 2027 at 3 pm. Invitations to students and families will be sent by email. Make sure to RSVP.

Senior Awards

There are many ways to excel. We want to recognize and reinforce the hard work and accomplishments of Kennedy students. The following awards are just a portion of those given for academic performance, attendance, athletics, and school citizenship. See the Student Handbook for a more complete list of awards and their qualifications

Academic Honors

Academic honors are bestowed on seniors who have chosen a demanding academic course load and achieved academic excellence throughout their time here at Kennedy. They are awarded special medals to wear at commencement. Students who choose this path will, in all likelihood, meet state regent requirements for college entrance.

Requirements for Academic Honors:
*Completion of the equivalent of 15 yearlong courses in the core subject areas. Core subjects are language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and world languages.
*Grade point average of a least 3.0 in these subjects.

Requirements for Academic Honors with Distinction:
*Completion of four years in language arts, mathematics, and science
*Completion of three years in social studies
*Completion of two years in world language
*Earning total credits equivalent to 24 year long courses (six per term)
*Grade point average of 3.33 in the five core subjects

The President’s Award for Academic Excellence

Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Graduate with Distinction

Valedictorian-students graduating with a cumulative GPA of 4.165 or higher. The student with the highest cumulative GPA in the senior class will deliver the valedictory address at commencement.

Salutatorian-students graduating with a cumulative GPA of 4.00-4.164.

Graduate with Distinction-students with a cumulative GPA of 3.845-3.999

All award recipients will receive a medallion to wear at commencement and will receive recognition at our Senior Recognition ceremony in late April.

KWWL Best of Class

“Then and Now” slideshow

Gather your pictures to submit for the Senior slideshow to be shown at graduation. Share a baby/toddler and a senior picture (does not have to be a formal senior picture). We will share the link in the Spring. NO LATE submissions will be allowed, so start planning now.

Seniors Last Day

Wednesday, May 26, 2027 is the last day of school for seniors with finals scheduled for the last two days. We ask that seniors not be on campus grounds after the 26th as underclassmen still have classes.

CPR Requirement

We will offer many opportunities during the school year to complete this requirement. Pay attention to the announcements for dates and times. If you do not do it at school, you must arrange to do this on your own and turn in your certificate of completion to the Counseling Office.

Yearbook

If you want a yearbook order early for the best price. Senior photos are due February 15 to be included in the yearbook.

Yearbooks will be delivered in May.

Prom

Mark Saturday, May 1, 2027. More information will come out in the spring. Students and their guests must be in Good Standing to attend. Tickets must be purchased before the event.

Senior Walk

May 17-21, 2027.

Visit your elementary school to say "Thank you" to teachers and to encourage future Cougars. Watch for the Google Form that will be shared on the daily announcements. You must use your school account to access the form.

Fees and lunch accounts

Make sure to pay all fees by May 20th so they won’t be sent to collections. Contact the bookkeeper if you have questions. If you have money left in your lunch account, you can donate it, move it, or get a refund. Go to the Food and Nutrition page on the District website for more information.

Library Books/TextBooks

Keep track of all your books, materials, Chromebooks and chargers as they must be returned before you graduate so that you are not charged for missing items.

Graduation Rehearsal

The student rehearsal will be Thursday, May 27, 2027, in the afternoon. All students participating in the graduation ceremony must attend. This will be held at the Powerhouse Arena. Information will be sent to your email in May.

Broadcast of ceremony

Graduation is usually broadcast live on KCRG 9.2 and streamed on KCRG.com and Zeam.com. Broadcast dates will be shared.

Return Chromebook and charger

You must return your Chromebook/charge before you leave Kennedy. Make sure to save any information you want to keep to a personal drive. Click HERE for instructions.
Chromebook return will be the last two days of school.

Graduation Ceremony

Graduation will be Thursday, May 27, 2027 at the Powerhouse Center downtown. Students should arrive at 6pm and the ceremony starts at 7. No tickets are required.

Main Floor riser tickets may be purchased for $5 cash from the Powerhouse ticket office. Tickets will NOT be available the day of the event.
