Band members have the opportunity to travel during spring break, typically every other year. Students are provided with several fundraising opportunities throughout the year to help offset travel costs.

In 2022 the Kennedy band went to Ireland during spring break. They joined bands from Linn-Mar, Washington, and Xavier.

For the 2022-23 school year the Jazz Bands went to New Orleans in January. They performed at the Palm Court Jazz Cafe, the Natchez Steamboat, and at Preservation Hall. In addition, during spring break, students from all the Kennedy and Washington music departments went to Disney World in Florida. They participated in the “You’re Instrumental” workshop and spent 5 days at the various parks.
