The Digital Music course gives students the opportunity to create, edit, produce, and engage with music using a digital platform. During this one semester class, students learn how to write and play drum grooves, bass lines, chordal parts, and melodies using the piano keyboard. There are six units that will guide students to compose pop music that sounds like it could be on the radio!

GRADING CRITERIA

Creating (50%)Assignments/assessments that determine proficiency creating music. Projects and compositions will be evaluated in class.
Performing (20%)Students will be evaluated on their ability to perform drum grooves, bass lines, chord progressions and melodies.
Responding (10%)These are assignments/assessments that include, but aren’t limited to, performance reflections, composition evaluations, listening assignments and transcribing.
Connecting (10%)Students will use the skills learned in class to analyze music they hear on the radio or streaming device.
21st Century Skills (10%)Meet the expectations of an employee in the modern workplace i.e. attendance, participation, work ethic, etc.
